while collaborating with us here at soona you are likely to hear lots of different soona specific terms or commonly used production terms.
here is a guide of commonly used terms to help guide you through your journey.
SOONA SPECIFIC LINGO
in-studio / anytime (or virtual)
terms that describe how the client will participate in the shoot.
anytime (or virtual) = the client will not be present in person during the shoot, but instead will be joining via the chat and/or a google meet.
in studio = the client will be present in studio with the crew directing the shoot.
creative or studio creative
a term we use to identify our photographers and videographers
pro service provider
a term used internally by soona team members to identify our collective members (stylists, models, etc)
PRODUCTION LINGO
camera speeds or rolling
terms called out on set by the videographer to indicate that they have begun filming. Your cue to begin your action on a video shoot is "action"
action
a term to cue models to begin their action on a video shoot
cut
a term to indicate the end of a take and for cameras to stop rolling
take
a term that refers to filming a clip, they are typically numbered. "this is take 1 of scene 3".
blocking
a term that refers to body positioning in relation to the camera, props, models, etc.
reset
a term that refers to returning the set and all elements to their original positions to start another take or new scene
camera left/camera right
a way of giving directions based on the perspective of the camera to help models position themselves correctly
ex. if they say "move camera left," if you're facing the camera, that means move to your right.
laces out
positioning the product so that the label is straight to camera
