FAQs
how do I get assignments?
a few things are taken into consideration before assigning models to bookings:
clients select their top 3 models in a model selection process.
in model selection, clients can see the entire model directory for one location. models are surfaced by most available to least available. clients also can filter models based on traits.our scheduling team assesses if the model's availability lines up with our studio, photographer, and (sometimes) other provider availability.
this is also where allergies, skills, or limitations communicated to us may be taken into consideration. they will assign the providers that meet the clients needs and can get the shoot on the calendar the quickest. (please still review shoot goals to ensure you are comfortable before accepting.)
if you have not received an assignment, it can just be a matter of time since assignments are given based on client demand.
read more info on assignments here.
what am I supposed to wear or bring to shoots?
models should always arrive in appearance standards to every shoot. this includes the clean bare nail standard.
bringing extra clothing items, makeup, and hair styling items is also always a good idea. each studio has model kits available with basic items to help with any troubleshooting.
if a shoot has a hair + makeup artist, please wear or bring standard wardrobe with you and come with clean unstyled hair and a clean bare face (no makeup).
what if I look different than my last test shoot?
people change! and we want you, to do you.
if you got a new hair do, new tattoo, or anything else that happens in life that affects your outer appearance, email collective@soona.co and we will let you know the best way to get your headshots updated.
we generally recommend new test shoots be taken every 6 months. kids under the age of 5 should likely have new headshots taken every 3-6 months.
how do I increase assignment frequency?
enter and update availability at least once a week
ensure your services are turned ON and all trait fields are filled out in your pro service profile
always respond to assignment emails
be reliable and quick with responding to our emails and texts
beyond that it's a bit of a waiting game until you are selected by a client!
what if I'm not comfortable with an assignment?
we only wish to ask services of you that you are comfortable + confident accomplishing.
after reviewing the assignment materials (shot list, booking details, pro service profile), if you feel unable or uncomfortable to either obtain or provide the services required, please decline the shoot.
if you have any questions about an assignment, reach out to us via email or text before accepting the shoot. we will be happy to answer any questions, comments, and concerns in order to make sure you feel confident accepting the assignment!
you are welcome to decline any service requests not disclosed to you before the shoot. we practice continuous consent in our studios, so please keep an open dialogue with our crew. let us know as soon as possible if you ever feel uncomfortable.
how do I communicate allergies and special skills?
there is space to share allergies and other notes to soona in your pro service profile.
navigate to this tab on book.soona.co and click "edit" in the top section to update this information any time.
when assigning providers to shoots, our team will look at these notes. however, it is ultimately your responsibility to assess each assignment and ensure your ability to service the shoot needs before accepting or declining.
if we share any new information after acceptance that prevents you from being able to participate, text us as soon as possible or let an in-studio crew member know.
