PROCESS

1. CHECK ASSIGNMENT NOTES

check assignment notes for any special instructions. if there are none, check with your photographer to review crew notes and shoot goals for any listed instructions or expectations for steaming.

2. FIND STEAMER + HANGERS

work with your photographer or studio crew lead to locate the standing or hand held steamer. when using the hand held steamer work with the studio crew to find a rack to hang the garments.

3. FIND THE RIGHT AREA TO STEAM

ensure you steam in an area with plenty of space and ventilation. this will help with the added humidity in the air. do your best to stay away from any camera or studio equipment such as tripods, lights, paper backdrops, etc. we recommend steaming in a wide near a wall with an outlet or use an extension cord.

4. PREPARE THE STEAMER

make sure the steamer is full of water and ready to go. if there is not water, take it to a nearby sink to be filled. ensure the steamer is also clean. wipe off any residue or build up from the steamer. once the steamer is full of water you can plug it in. once plugged in turn it on and make sure you adjust the setting to the right level of steam depending on the fabric. lighter fabrics like silk need less steam and tougher fabrics like linen need more steam.

5. STEAM THE ITEMS THOROUGHLY

it's time to steam! ensure all items are wrinkle free as possible. use caution and be careful not to aim the steamer at your body to avoid burns. start steaming the items from top to bottom.

6. DELIVER ITEMS TO SHOOT AREA

once your items are wrinkle free, deliver them to your photographer at the shoot area.
