APPEARANCE STANDARDS

full body models, hand models, and foot models are expected to adhere all appearance standards and be ready to provide both services if requested.

it is common for clients to request some hand, foot, or leg focused shots of their full body model.

and occasionally, a hand model or foot model may be upgraded to full body model (with model consent).

arriving out of standards consistently are terms for suspension

we expect trimmed, filed + buffed natural nails on all hand, foot, and full body model shoots.
if model details + extras indicate "manicure/pedicure: clean bare nails," this indicates the standard appearance expectations are required for the shoot.

only acceptable time to arrive with polish or fake nails, is if soona requested a press on or custom manicure.

✅  nails are similar in shape and length

✅  nails are less than 1 cm above the fingertip
(nails above 0.5 cm may be asked to cut)

✅  nails are shaped with file + buffed
hint - use a buff block like this one!

✅  cuticles are clean + moisturized
hint - use cuticle remover + cuticle oil!

❌  no polish, acrylics, or fake nails
(unless requested by soona + client)

no visible dirt on top or underneath nail

no dead, dry, or cracking skin or cuticles

these standards can be met with at home care. should you decide to go to a salon to meet the clean bare nails expectations, soona will not be able to be reimburse.

standard wardrobe

standard wardrobe consists of two outfits: a casual and athletic option.

both options should be brought to every full body model + foot model assignment, even if the client is sending clothes for you to wear. hand models can pick one of the options to wear.

unless otherwise specified, arrive in the casual option and bring the athletic option with you.

all standard wardrobe items must be free of visible branding or text. please clean your footwear before you arrive.

skin care

spend a little extra time on self care before your shoots

  exfoliate + moisturize skin
(focus on hands, feet, legs + face)

✅  use extra care to avoid: scratches, bruises, stains, or blisters

hair + makeup

most full body model shoots do not have an HMUA on set. hair + makeup should be prepped at home and ready when you arrive.

overall, do your best to match the look you had in your test shoot.

✅   light + natural or no makeup

 clean + naturally styled hair

bring simple supplies for light styling
e.g. comb, bobby pins, hair tie, clips, etc.

if a hair + makeup artist is on the shoot, arrive with clean unstyled hair and no makeup.

if you arrive with different hair + makeup styles than your test shoot, bring the necessary supplies to mimic your test shoot look upon request.

FAQ

what if I don't look like my test shoot anymore?

people change! and we want you, to do you.

if you got a new hair do, new tattoo, or anything else that has affected your outer appearance, submit new photos to us using the form in the model photo updates page.

we generally recommend new test shoots be taken every 6 months. kids under the age of 5 should likely have new headshots taken every 3-6 months.

what if I arrive out of standards to a shoot?

frequently arriving out of standards are terms for suspension.

however, life happens sometimes! if you arrive out of standards, we do have some materials in studio to help.

ask the photographer for access to our model kits. these kits will have basic supplies like makeup remover, nail polish remover, lotion, cuticle oil, brushes, and more to help trouble shoot.
