APPEARANCE STANDARDS
foot modeling has different standards than hand or full body modeling. below are the outlined expectations for foot models on every shoot.
(unless other wise specified in crew notes)
feet + legs must be....
washed clean + free of dirt, scratches, blisters, bruises, or stains.
exfoliated + moisturized. no dead, dry, or cracking skin.
neatly trimmed, filed, and intact nails
clean bare nails (unless otherwise requested to get a custom pedicure)
leg hair should match the test shoot photos OR the listed preference in the pro services tab of a booking.
ie: if shaving is required, please have a fresh shave before the shoot.
✅ EXAMPLES
STANDARD WARDROBE
standard wardrobe is the same for all hand, full body, and foot modeling bookings. please come dressed in full appearance standards to every modeling shoot and have all additional wardrobe options ready.
please have CLEAN shoes for all shoots!
even though you will only be modeling mid-thigh down, there is the possibility the client will want to upgrade to a full body model during the shoot.
always appearing in standard wardrobe also demonstrates professionalism for all in studio clients.
PRO TIPS
clean your shoes the night before. wear different shoes on your way into the studio + change once you get inside (especially in the winter!)
got a barefoot shoot? the night before, exfoliate your feet, apply lotion right before bed, and sleep in socks. this will make them silky smooth and ensure they are hydrated. wear sandals or loose fitting shoes before you arrive.
always bring an extra pair of clean socks!
FOOT MODELING TRAITS
in your pro service profile tab on book.sona.co, you will find a "foot model" service card in the list of services you provide.
if you see a red ❗️ click "edit" in the bottom right hand corner to fill out the missing trait information. all fields should have an answer filled, even if it is "none" or "no."
not sure what your arch or width is? see tips + charts below to find out!
DETERMINE YOUR ARCH TYPE
look at the chart + find the image that looks most like your foot print.
if you are unsure, try one of these two things:
look at the bottom of your socks or shoes to understand where most wear + tear occurs.
wet the bottom of your foot + step on a sheet piece of paper. use the footprint left over to compare.
DETERMINE FOOT WIDTH
lay a tape measure flat on the floor. step across the tape measure with the ball of your foot (widest part).
line up the right most side against the 1 inch mark
note where on the tape measure the left edge of your foot ends. subtract 1 inch.
find your shoe size + width measurement in the chart below to determine if you are narrow, medium, or wide.
GREAT foot modeling looks like...
✅ reliability.
update your availability. be early. respond to communications + assignments. and consistently bring your best to every shoot.
🦶🏻 well maintained feet + legs.
keep feet + legs exfoliated, toe nails clipped, and leg hair as shown in your test shoot. see foot model appearance standards listed on this page for more specifics.
🩰 flexibility and balance.
increase and maintain mobility + strength in your arches, ankles, and legs. this will only help increase your posing capabilities for more variety and capability on each shoot.
pro tip: set some time aside before the shoot to warm up your feet + leg muscles for speedy posing!
🧠 understanding the assignment.
read through each assignment carefully + thoroughly. knowing as much as you can will reduce the amount the photographer or client have to repeat or relay info.
💡inspiration.

FAQs
how do I get assignments?
a few things are taken into consideration before assigning models to bookings:
clients select their top 3 models in a model selection process.
in model selection, clients can see the entire model directory for one location. models are surfaced by most available to least available. clients also can filter models based on traits.our scheduling team assesses if the model's availability lines up with our studio, photographer, and (sometimes) other provider availability.
this is also where allergies, skills, or limitations communicated to us may be taken into consideration. schedulers will assign providers that meet the clients needs and can get the shoot on the calendar the quickest. (please still review shoot goals to ensure you are comfortable before accepting.)
if you have not received an assignment, it can just be a matter of time since assignments are given based on client demand.
read more info on assignments here.
what am I supposed to wear or bring to shoots?
for foot models, the most important things to bring are
bottom half of both standard wardrobes: clean close toed neutral color shoes, non-ripped jeans, shorts (+ leggings if you have them).
extra pair of clean socks
if modeling barefoot: wear loose fitting shoes or sandals to the shoot (+bring socks and standard wardrobe shoes with you)
however, foot models should arrive in all appearance standards to every shoot. foot models in most cases will only feature mid-thigh + down, but there is always the possibility the client will want to upgrade to a full body model while on the shoot!
additionally, if the client is in studio, arriving in full standard wardrobe shows a level of professionalism.
the only time you will not arrive to a shoot with clean bare nails, is if a custom manicure is requested.
what if my legs look different from my test shoot?
people change! and we want you, to do you.
if you got a new tattoo, are in your "summer" / "winter color," or anything else that affects your foot or leg appearance, submit new photos via the model photo updates page.
how do I increase assignment frequency?
enter and update availability at least once a week
ensure your services are turned ON and all trait fields are filled out in your pro service profile
always respond to assignment emails
be reliable and quick with responding to our emails and texts
beyond that it's a bit of a waiting game until you are selected by a client!
what if I'm not comfortable with an assignment?
we only wish to ask services of you that you are comfortable + confident accomplishing.
after reviewing the assignment materials (shot list, booking details, pro service profile), if you feel unable or uncomfortable to either obtain or provide the services required, please decline the shoot.
if you have any questions about an assignment, reach out to us via email or text before accepting the shoot. we will be happy to answer any questions, comments, and concerns in order to make sure you feel confident accepting the assignment!
you are welcome to decline any service requests not disclosed to you before the shoot. we practice continuous consent in our studios, so please keep an open dialogue with our crew. let us know as soon as possible if you ever feel uncomfortable.
how do I communicate allergies and special skills?
there is space to share allergies and other notes to soona in your pro service profile.
navigate to this tab on book.soona.co and click "edit" in the top section to update this information any time.
when sending assignments, our team will look at these notes. however, it is ultimately your responsibility to assess each assignment and ensure your ability to service the shoot needs before accepting or declining.
if we share new info that prevents you from being able to participate after you've accepted, text or email us as soon as possible. if you are in studio, let an in-studio crew member know ASAP.
